Exchange District B.I.Z.
The Mayor’s BIZ award recipient from the Exchange District is Trudy Schroeder, Executive Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Trudy served on the Board of the Exchange District BIZ from 2002 to 2009. Her diligent work helped the BIZ transform the area into a more welcoming and attractive area for businesses and visitor’s alike.
Trudy was instrumental in relocating the BIZ office to its current location at Old Market Square in order to enhance the visibility of the organization and its programs; including the ever-popular Historic Walking Tour program. Trudy also helped to launch the Exchange Patrol program.
Trudy was influential in making the revitalization of Old Market Square a key engagement of the BIZ. She was heavily involved in the park redevelopment committee, and her personal presentation to the Winnipeg Foundation helped to secure funding for the creation of the new stage at Old Market Square – which will be officially unveiled on June 17th, 2010. Trudy has been, and continues to be an incredible asset to the Exchange District and its unrivalled arts community. Over the past decade, the BIZ has become better at communicating with its members and informing people about the heritage and cultural value of the Exchange District National Historic Site. Many of these gains can be attributed to Trudy’s good and tireless work.
