Downtown Winnipeg B.I.Z.
From the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, the award recipient of the Mayor’s BIZ Award is David Hill, Chief Operating Officer of the Winnipeg Parking Authority.
Mr Hill has been selected because of the leadership, commitment and personal determination in evolving downtown parking in Winnipeg to leading standards and practices.
Dave is the first COO of the Winnipeg Parking Authority, and has embraced the adventures of modernizing parking in our city and in a consultative and partnership approach manner with the downtown business community.
He reorganized, streamlined, automated, and completely re-staffed and rebranded the parking enforcement program to provide customer service ease of use, and respect for our citizens. He replaced our rusty, broken parking meters with solar powered pay stations that accept coins, credit cards, downtown tokens, cell phone payments, and pre-purchase vouchers. He upgraded our parking lots and garages to be cleaner and safer, provide car wash and car care services, bike lockers, and a much more engaging and vibrant customer experience. He almost doubled city parking revenues in 5 years. And he did all of this while building truly visionary operating partnerships with his stakeholders, like the Downtown BIZ, and participating in the renaissance of our downtown.
The result has been a rapid transformation of downtown parking. The business community, have been appreciative of his efforts and his entrepreneurial approach.
