Friday May 14th, 2010 in the foyer outside the Mayor’s Office, His Worship Mayor Sam Katz presented the “Mayor’s Business Improvement Zone” Awards to the existing City of Winnipeg’s B.I.Z.s.
This prestigious award is presented annually to individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to their local Business Improvement Zone. Awards are presented for exemplary work that contributes to the Business Improvement Zone programs in a variety of ways. Past awards have acknowledged contributions in the areas of special events, marketing, promotions, physical enhancement, and safety, among others.
The Mayor and Members of the Winnipeg City Council presented these awards to individuals and organizations that have assisted the Business Improvement Zones in contributing to the overall quality of life in our fair city!
There are fifteen Business Improvement Zones in Winnipeg. Collectively, these zones represent some 5,000 businesses. Although each BIZ has its own unique mandate and mission statement, all share the common goal of improving their own geographic section of the city for their business members.
Thank you to all the recipients for the difference you have made to our business community and the City of Winnipeg. Listed below are the Business Improvement Zones and their Award Recipients receiving the Mayor’s Business Improvement Zone Award.
