Community Volunteer
Under the direction of an assigned Police Officer, Community Volunteers staff the front counter of various Service Centres throughout the City of Winnipeg. Community Volunteers assist members of the public with police reports, referrals or by providing general information.
The duties of a Community Volunteer include:
- Greeting members of the public and evaluating their concerns.
- Answering the telephone, re-directing calls and forwarding messages.
- Provide direction and referrals.
- Assist assigned Police Officers with Complaint Reports and Traffic Accident Reports.
- Provide support for the Block Parent Program.
- Accept alarm permit applications.
- Explain parking ticket payment procedures.
- Distribute pamphlets.
- Accept deliveries.
- Volunteer at various Police related events.
