Lateral Entry Eligibility
The Winnipeg Police Service offers a lateral entry program to those individuals who are interested in continuing their Policing career with the Winnipeg Police Service. To be eligible as a lateral entry candidate, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Meet the minimum qualifications as set out for lateral entry candidates.
- Be a serving member of a Police Organization whose standards and training are comparable to those of the Winnipeg Police Service, as determined by the Winnipeg Police Recruiting/Human Resources Unit.
- Be eligible for an honourable discharge from the Police Service of which they are a current member.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years continuous police experience.
- Meet the physical fitness standards of the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS-PAT), panel interview, background investigation, psychological and medical testing.
- Non-acceptance as a lateral entry candidate does not preclude eligible individuals from competing for a position through the regular recruitment process.

The Winnipeg Police Service, Recruiting Office, 280 William Avenue must be in possession of a valid WPS-PAT certificate NO LATER THAN Monday, February 6, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. CERTIFICATES SUBMITTED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The WPS-PAT certificate is valid for the current recruitment only. Your application will be withdrawn from the current recruiting process, should you not hand in or have on file a valid WPS-PAT Certificate by Monday, February 6, 2012 at 3:30 p.m.
