Civilian Positions
The staff component of the Winnipeg Police Service encompasses a great many job functions and exciting new career opportunities. Civilian members of the Winnipeg Police Service provide support in administrative and operational roles to Police Officers and members of the public.
Clerk “A” positions are the usual entry route to a career with the Winnipeg Police Service. This position provides the initial training and basic knowledge that is required on the various systems and procedures that govern the Police Service.
From this entry level position, new members can advance to various administrative roles the staff component plays within the Organization by participating in the internal Staffing Process.
As the staff component is represented by the Winnipeg Police Association, all staff positions other than Clerk “A” are initially posted for the information of Winnipeg Police Service members only. Should a position not be filled internally, then the position would be posted externally for the information of members of the public. The individual application process and job requirements would be included for each various competition.
