PLEASE NOTE - THE PROCESS FOR FOREIGN CREDENTIALS HAS CHANGED.  IF YOUR EDUCATION WAS OBTAINED OUTSIDE OF CANADA, YOU REQUIRE AN ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS REPORT TO APPLY FOR ANY POSITION WITHIN THE WINNIPEG POLICE SERVICE EVEN IF YOU HAVE APPLIED WITH US BEFORE.  THIS REPORT CAN TAKE SOME TIME TO OBTAIN.  PLEASE REFER TO OUR WEBSITE UNDER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE LINK TO A RECOGNIZED CANADIAN ASSESSMENT SERVICE.  ONLY A BASIC/GENERAL REPORT IS REQUIRED TO APPLY BUT YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO APPLY WITHOUT ONE.

CITY OF WINNIPEG CAREER SYMPOSIUM – OCTOBER 7, 2014

The Winnipeg Police Recruiting Unit will be attending the City of Winnipeg Career Symposium on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the RBC Winnipeg Convention Centre, 3rd floor - 375 York Avenue.  Admission is FREE and open to everyone! The Symposium hours are from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.   Come out and learn more about the Police Constable, Auxiliary Force Cadet and civilian positions.

2014 06 27 - cadet class #9 applications are now closed!

The Winnipeg Police Service is not accepting applications for Auxiliary Force Cadet at the present time.  Please check the website periodically for information on the next Cadet Class.

2014 04 28 - applications for recruit class #158 and #158-L (LATERAL) are now closed!

The Winnipeg Police Service is not accepting applications for Police Constable at the present time.  Please check the website periodically for information on the next Recruit Class.


Auxiliary Cadets are peace officers that work throughout the city to enhance the Service’s visual presence, build positive relationships in the community and allow police members to focus on core police duties. A Cadet’s daily activities vary and include:

  • conducting neighborhood foot patrol
  • guarding crime scenes
  • directing traffic
  • assisting in ground searches
  • receiving minor property and motor vehicle reports
  • enforcing provincial statutes and municipal by-laws
  • referring citizens to assisting agencies

As with police officers and staff, the Auxiliary Cadets have to exemplify the core competencies of City of Winnipeg employees:

Applicants chosen for these positions may be selected as full or part-time employees.
