About the Service – Maintaining Professional Standards

Complaints against Winnipeg Police Service employees are considered serious and are investigated thoroughly and impartially. Complaints are handled as outlined in the Winnipeg Police Service Regulations.

You can mail, fax, email or hand deliver your complaint to any Winnipeg Police Service Center or to the office of the Chief of Police. You may also use the online form or contact the Winnipeg Police Professional Standards Unit directly at 986-6079.

To make an anonymous complaint, you may write to the Chief of Police or contact the Professional Standards Unit by telephone at 986-6079. Criminal complaints are investigated by the police service and then forwarded to the Department of Justice for consideration of criminal charges, as warranted.

  • Information about the incident
  • Your personal information, so that we may contact you
  • Your signature, verifying the accuracy of the report
