Sexual Assault – Arrest: R17-86530

On October 19, 2017, a 19-year-old female attended a walk-in medical clinic in the 300 block of Johnson Avenue West seeking treatment for an ailment. She met with a physician she had previously been treated by.

During the latest visit, the female victim was escorted to a treatment room and was left alone. A short time later, the physician entered the room and closed the door.

The victim was examined in an inappropriate manner and the examination escalated to the point that the victim was seriously sexually assaulted by the physician. The victim sustained injuries during the examination that were consistent with her account of the events.

The victim later sought treatment in hospital for her injuries and was released.

On October 20, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service was notified and members of the Sex Crimes Unit entered into an investigation. The suspect later turned himself into police at the Headquarters building.

Amir Houshang Mazhariravesh, also known as Dr. Amir Ravesh, a 51-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with Sexual Assault.

He was released on a Promise to Appear.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with further information regarding this investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Drugs – Arrests: R17-77470

During the afternoon of October 23, 2017, members of the West District Community Support Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residential suite at a building in the first 100 block of Strauss Drive.

An investigation has led to the seizure of a number of items including the following:

- 1 ounce of pure fentanyl (valued at approximately $22,400).
- 1 ounce of fentanyl cut with icing sugar (valued at approximately $2,800).
- 8.3 ounces of marijuana (valued at approximately $2,000).
- 4 cell-phones, 2 digital scales and drug-related packaging materials.
- Cutting agent.
- Approximately $600 in Canadian currency.
- A replica handgun.

Prior to the search warrant, two suspects were located and placed under arrest in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue.

Trevor Michael Petrowski, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Marijuana
- Produce a Scheduled Substance - Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Jenna Lee Guidolin, a 35-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Marijuana
- Produce a Scheduled Substance - Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

They were detained in custody.

Investigators believe that these arrests and the seized items are related to drug trafficking within the city.

Drugs – Arrest: C17-239574

During the evening of October 23, 2017, members of the Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residential suite at a building in the 400 block of River Avenue.
An investigation has led to the seizure of a number of items including the following:

- 25 ounces of methamphetamine (valued at approximately $52,000).
- 180 pills containing methamphetamine (valued at approximately $1,800).
- 45 Xanax pills (valued at approximately $450).
- A digital scale and drug-related packaging materials.

A 45-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine

She was released on a Promise to Appear.

Investigators believe that this arrest and the seized items are related to drug trafficking within the city.

Aggravated Assault - Arrests: C170239342

On July 3, 2017 Winnipeg Police members encountered a 25-year-old male on an unrelated incident and found him to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. It was learned that this male was present during a shooting on June 18, 2017 which resulted in the death of William Sumner. The victim received the injury at that time.

The incident was investigated by the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit. Between October 18 - 23, 2017, investigators arrested Cameron KINNAVANTHONG, 32-years-old, Jonathan CATCHEWAY, 28-years-old, Gene MALCOLM, 33-years-old and Leon PATCHINOSE, 30-years-old, all of Winnipeg. They have been charged with Aggravated Assault and Discharge with Intent to Wound and remain in custody.

Assault Investigation - Arrest: C170239450

As previously released:
On October 22, 2017 at approximately 1:20 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received a call advising that two people had been assaulted in the 400 block of Nairn Ave. General Patrol and Tactical Support Team members attended and located two adult males with injuries. One male with upper body injuries was transported to hospital in stable condition, a second male, with an injury to his midsection was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

The first male was been treated and released from hospital. He is currently in police custody. The second male remains in hospital in stable condition.

On October 23, 2017 members of the Major Crimes Unit arrested Aaron Kenley SUTHERLAND, 21-years-old of Winnipeg. He has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon X2
  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats X2
  • Possess Weapon X3
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking x4

 

He has been detained in custody.

Robbery Investigation: C170240687

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to the report of a robbery in the first 100 block of Bison Drive.

The victim, an adult male in his twenties, was approached by two males outside of his vehicle. One of the males demanded the victim's wallet, cell phone and PIN number while displaying a knife. The victim provided the suspects with his personal belongings and remained unharmed. The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect #1: Black male, approximately 5'5" in height, wearing a long light coloured jacket with a hood.

Suspect #2: Black male, approximately 5'6" - 5'7" in height wearing a sweater and baseball hat.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Fire Investigation: C170240788

On October 24, 2017 at approximately 5:30 a.m., Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service personnel were dispatched to a working fire in the 500 block of Simcoe St. During the incident the fire spread to a neighbouring house.

Several people were present in the residence at time and were transported by paramedics to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and other related injuries.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. This investigation is continuing by members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service investigators.
