Shots Fired Investigation - C17-127460 & C17-127642

On June 11, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were called to the 500 block of Balmoral Street for the report of shots being fired. Evidence of a firearm being discharged was located in the rear lane. No injuries have been reported. No suspects have been identified/arrested at this time.

On June 12, 2017 at approximately 5:20 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were called to the 500 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of shots being fired. Evidence of a firearm being discharged was located in the area. No injuries have been reported. No suspects have been identified/arrested at this time.

Both incidents continue to be investigated.

Serious All-Terrain Vehicle Accident – C17-126742

June 10, 2017, at approximately 11:00 pm. emergency personnel responded to an off road vehicle which crashed in the area of Courchaine Road and Turnbull Drive.

Upon arrival, a 23-year-old male and a 25-year-old female were located suffering severe injuries. Both were transported to hospital in critical condition. The female has been upgraded to sable and the male remains in critical condition.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.

Break and Enter – Investigation Update: C17-124970

As previously released: Members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes unit are investigating a number of residential break-ins which occurred between June 8 - 9, 2017. Several residences in the 1100-1200 block of Leila Avenue were entered in the early morning hours and overnight and personal items were stolen.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old adult male is in custody. Charges are pending. Further information will be released at a later time.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit have arrested and charged the following male:

Graeson Reynbow Wasicuna, 19-years-old

He has been charged with:
Break, Enter and Theft X4
Commercial Break, Enter and Theft
Break and Enter with Intent X8

Assault Peace Officer: Arrest - C17-127326

On June 11, 2017 at approximately 5:00 p.m. two Winnipeg Police Auxiliary Cadets were patrolling the area of Balmoral St. and Cumberland Ave. when they observed an adult male consuming an alcoholic beverage. Cadets determined the male was intoxicated and attempted to take him into custody under the Liquor Control Act. The cadets were subsequently threatened and assaulted. The male continued to be combative until General Patrol officers attended and took the male into custody. A search of the male revealed a knife concealed in his waistband.

Uhanis Oliver Lotio, 37-years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

Resist Peace Officer
Possess Weapon
Carry Concealed Weapon
Utter Threats x2
Mischief Under
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Consume and Possess Liquor in Public Place
