Explosive Material Investigation - R17-0001337

Currently, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit, is involved in an on-going investigation into the trafficking and selling of emulsion explosives.

These explosives are described as flex tubes with metal crimped ends. They are approximately 1 inch thick and 12-14 inches long. They contain high explosives and are intended for blasting rock in mining settings.

Officers have since located and seized a quantity of these explosives within the City of Winnipeg. 

Due to the on-going investigation, on January 6, 2017, officers executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 800 block of College Avenue. Numerous police resources were utilized to ensure public and officer safety. This particular investigation is continuing.

Should anyone be aware of or come across explosives of this nature, the item(s) should not be touched or handled in any way. CALL POLICE IMMEDIATELY.

MISSING PERSON – Sherrie Garson  R17-000501

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16yrs old female, Sherrie GARSON.  GARSON was last seen on Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017 in the West Kildonan area of Winnipeg.

GARSON is described as Aboriginal, 5’6”, thin build, long straight brown hair. GARSON was last seen wearing a dark camouflage jacket, blue sweat pants and blue slip on shoes.

Police are concerned for GARSON's well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
