For Immediate Release

Fire Investigation C16-31424

On February 14, 2016 at approximately 11:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a working fire at a business located in the 400 block of St. Mary’s Road.

Upon arrival, a fully engulfed building was observed. While members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service extinguished the blaze, members of the Winnipeg Police Service closed area roadways and evacuated nearby residences.

No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at excess $1,000,000.00.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Arson Unit continue to investigate.

Update date last seen- Missing Person – Cooper James NEMETH - R16-11373

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 17 year-old, Cooper James NEMETH. He was last seen during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 14, 2016, in the Valley Gardens area of Winnipeg.

NEMETH is described a Caucasian male, 6’0” tall, 170 pounds, average build with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black jacket with a River East Marauders hockey logo on the front, black pants, and brown skater runners.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for NEMETH’S well-being and is asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Stabbing – C16-31937

On February 15, 2016 at approximately 6:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 100 block of Jarvis Avenue regarding a stabbing incident.

Upon arrival, a 34-year-old male and 26-year-old female were located with injuries. The male was initially transported in unstable condition and the female in stable condition.

Interviews are on-going and limited information is available at this time.
