Winnipeg Police Service Media Release

Missing Person - Lorna BLACKSMITH :: R12-8970

As previously released, the Winnipeg Police Service continues to request the public’s assistance in locating a missing 18 year old female, Lorna BLACKSMITH.

BLACKSMITH was last seen on January 11th, 2012 in the West End of Winnipeg.

BLACKSMITH is described as Metis, 5’4” tall, approximately 110 pounds, with medium-length blonde hair and grey/hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing black pants, white hooded sweater, red bomber-style jacket and white boots.

Officers are concerned for BLACKSMITH’s well-being and information has been received that she may have travelled to Calgary, Red Deer or Lethbridge, Alberta.

Anyone with information regarding BLACKSMITH’S whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Suspicious Incident :: C12-42346

On March 8th, 2012 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a 13 year old female was walking in the back lane near Ness Avenue and Sturgeon Road when a vehicle driven by a male approached her and asked if she wanted a ride. The female declined a ride however the vehicle proceeded to drive slowly beside the victim as she walked down the lane. The vehicle then continued past the victim and stopped in a grocery store parking lot. The victim entered the store and waited a few minutes until she observed the vehicle had left.

The victim returned home where she notified family members and police were contacted.

The vehicle is described as a 4 door grey car.

Suspect male: Black male, approximately 20 years with a skinny build and short, dark, curly hair. He was wearing a white jersey style shirt.

Division 12 Crime Unit members are continuing with this investigation. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is asked to call 204-986-2839 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Winnipeg Police Service - Community Consultation - Rescheduled

The Winnipeg Police Service will be hosting a Community Consultation on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., regarding the proposal to close two Police Service Centres located at 1400 Henderson Highway and at 1085 St. Mary's Road.

Representatives from the Winnipeg Police Service will be in attendance.

Members of the public are invited to attend.

This consultation will take place at the Bronx Community Centre located at 281 Henderson Highway.

This has been rescheduled as of March 13, 2012.
