Thin Ice Advisory
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to advise all members of the public that recent warm temperatures have made Winnipegs frozen waterways extremely hazardous. Ice conditions are very unstable at this time of year. Please stay off ALL frozen waterways such as Rivers, Streams, Retention Ponds and Ditches.
This is an extremely dangerous time as open water on the rivers is swift and very cold.
Parents and teachers are asked to discuss with their children and students the dangers involved with thin ice and cold water.

Strong-arm Robbery :: C11-57417
On March 24, 2011, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Uniform members responded to the area of the 700 block of Wellington Avenue regarding a robbery which had just occurred.
Officers met with a 28 year old male victim who related that he was walking northbound on Spence Street approaching Sargent Avenue when he was confronted by 3 male suspects. One of the suspects produced a knife and placed it near the victims neck area while demanding his property. The victim turned over his property while a second suspect produced a metal pipe and assaulted the victim to the lower body. The victim and suspects fled the area.
The victim sustained minor lower body injuries as a result of the incident.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect 1 Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 17-18 years, 125-130 lbs., 57- 58 in height, clean shaven, thin build, wearing a black jacket an in possession of a knife.
Suspect 2 Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 17-18 years of age, thin build, 57 58 in height, wearing a black jacket, black hat and in possession of a metal pipe.
Suspect 3 - Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 17-18 years of age, thin build, 57 58 in height, wearing a black jacket, black hat.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Fraud Arrest :: R10-1701
In April 2009, a 38 year old female opened a bank account to accept public donations for a critically ill family member. The trust account was advertised, and due to significant exposure; funds in excess of $25,000.00 was raised for future medical needs.
Between June and October 2009, the 38 year old female withdrew a large portion of the donated funds for her own personal use.
In November 2009, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Commercial Crime Unit were notified and entered into an investigation regarding possible accounting discrepancies.
On March 23, 2011, the 38 year old female was arrested and is now facing the following charges: Fraud Over $5000.00 and Theft Over $5000.00.
She has been released on a Promise to Appear.

MIHRSO Request Assistance to Locate Joshua Turner
The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) is a joint forces unit of the RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service. MIHRSOU is requesting assistance from the Public in locating Joshua TURNER, 27 years old. Police are seeking to locate TURNER as he is unlawfully at large for breaching his Probation Order. He was last seen on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the Forks.
TURNER has a lengthy record including Sexual Assault, Harassing and Indecent Phone Calls and numerous charges for Failing to Comply with Court Imposed Orders. TURNER is considered High Risk to re-offend both sexually and violently. All females are at risk.
TURNER is described as a Caucasian male, 5'10", 154 lbs, brown hair and hazel eyes.
