For Immediate Release
Sudden Death Investigation
On April 26, 2010 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Uniform members were dispatched to the area of St. John’s Park along the river as a result of a body being located near the edge of the water.
The investigation has revealed that an area resident observed the suspicious circumstance at which time emergency services were notified.
The deceased person has not been positively identified and the cause of death has not yet been determined pending autopsy results.
The investigation is continuing.
Motor Vehicle Collision Involving a Pedestrian
On April 26, 2010 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Uniform members were dispatched to the area of Broadway and Honeyman Avenue regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
At this stage of the investigation, it is believed that a vehicle travelling westbound on Broadway near Honeyman Avenue collided with a 7 year old male victim. As a result of the collision, the victim was conveyed to hospital, he was later upgraded to stable condition.
The investigation is continuing.
Assault with a Weapon
On April 26, 2010 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Uniform members were dispatched to the area of Sherbrook Street and Sargent Avenue regarding bear spray being discharged on a City Transit Bus.
The investigation has revealed that a 20 year old male passenger was confronted by an unknown male suspect at which time bear spray was discharged in his direction. As a result, several other passengers were indirectly affected.
Medical treatment was provided.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
Commercial Robbery
On April 26, 2010 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Uniform members were dispatched to a convenience store located in the 100 block of Keewatin Street regarding a robbery incident.
The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect entered the business armed with a knife. The store clerk was confronted at which time money was demanded.
The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount cash and cigarettes. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, late teens, 5’6”-5’7” in height, slim build, wearing: a white hoodie, light blue jeans and a peach coloured scarf with designs, cover his face area.
