Winnipeg Police Service Media Release

Stolen Vehicle Arrest

On January 31, 2010 at approximately 2:35 a.m., police observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen truck travelling in the area of Keewatin Street and Pacific Avenue. Surveillance of the vehicle was maintained.

Assisting Uniform members unsuccessfully attempted to deploy a tire deflation device in an attempt to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Keewatin Street and Logan Avenue. The suspect vehicle then fled the area and the vehicle was located abandoned minutes later, in the area of Logan Avenue and Worth Street.

The two male suspects were located by the Canine Unit at the rear of a residence in the 1500 block of Ross Avenue and were arrested in connection with the incident.

A 15 year old male was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possessing a Controlled Drug or Substance and Failure to Comply with Sentence X 4 and was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

An 18 year old male is facing similar charges in connection with the incident and remains in police custody at this time.

The investigation is continuing.

Missing Person - Shane OLSON-TRYON

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 14 year old missing female, Shane OLSON-TRYON. OLSON-TRYON was last seen on January 30th, 2010 at approximately 5:00 p.m.

OLSON-TRYON is considered to be a child in need of protection as she is at high risk of being exploited or victimized and investigators are concerned for her well-being.

OLSON-TRYON is described as a Caucasian female, 5'3" tall and weighs approximately 125 pounds. She has medium-length blonde and black hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information regarding OLSON-TRYON's whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Missing Person - Katrina POTTINGER - Located

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 15 year old missing female, Katrina POTTINGER. POTTINGER was last seen on January 31st, 2010 at approximately 3:00 a.m.

The Winnipeg Police Service considers POTTINGER to be a child in need of protection as she is at high risk of being exploited or victimized and investigators are concerned for her well-being.

POTTINGER is described as Caucasian, 5’ tall, weighing approximately 93 pounds and has long wavy brown hair and brown eyes.

POTTINGER is known to frequent the Downtown and North End areas of the city.

Anyone with information regarding POTTINGER’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
