Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release
Parental Abduction
The Winnipeg Police Service along with Child Find Manitoba, are once again requesting the public’s assistance in locating two missing children, 8 year old Dominic MARYK and 6 year old Abby MARYK, who were abducted by their biological father.
August 16th 2009 marks the one year anniversary since the children were last seen by their mother, Emily CABLEK.
Dominic and Abby were on a holiday with their 38 year old father Kevin MARYK when they were abducted. Investigators believe they remain in their father’s custody at this time and that they may have been taken out of the province.

Investigators also believe that Kevin MARYK may be in the company of his 20 year old nephew, Cody MCKAY. MCKAY, who was living with his uncle (Maryk), disappeared at the same time the abduction occurred and it is believed he is an accomplice.
Canada-wide warrants have been issued for Kevin MARYK for Abduction in Contravention of a Court Order X 2 and Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence X 2.
A Canada wide warrant has also been issued for Cody MCKAY for Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence X 2 in connection with the abduction.

Kevin MARYK is described as Caucasian, 5’ 10” tall and weighing 205 lbs. He has a fair complexion and hazel eyes. At the time of the abduction he had a shaved head and goatee. Cody MCKAY is described as Caucasian, 5’ 4” tall and weighing 160 lbs. He has a dark complexion and brown eyes. At the time of the abduction he was clean shaven with medium length dark hair. Their appearances may have changed over the last year.
Investigators are of the belief that acquaintances, friends, or possibly family members may have knowledge as to the whereabouts of MARYK, MCKAY and the children. Certain individuals may also be enabling them to stay hidden from the authorities by providing them with shelter or financial support.
Anyone doing so or anyone having knowledge of this occurring, is asked to come forward and provide the necessary information required to reunite Dominic and Abby with their mother. Citizens wishing to share information anonymously are encouraged to do so through the Winnipeg Crime Stoppers program.

The Winnipeg Police Service - Missing Persons Unit is also requesting that all media agencies forward this release to their colleagues across Canada and the United States if possible.
Warrant - Sexual Assault Suspect
On June 16, 2009, the Winnipeg Police Service released information regarding the arrest of a male in connection with the sexual assault of a youth patient at a Winnipeg hospital.
On August 11, 2009, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for 29 year old Walid ABDELHAMID for Fail to Comply with the Conditions of a Recognizance in connection with the sexual assault.
ABDELHAMID is described as 5’6”tall, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information regarding ABDELHAMID’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit at 986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
Homicide Update
On August 11, 2009 at approximately 1:50 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 400 block of Flora Avenue regarding shots fired.
A male suffering from gunshot wounds was located outside a residence. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition and has since succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as 26 year old Scott McGillivray of Winnipeg.
No suspect information is available at this time. The investigation is continuing by the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect or suspects is asked to contact investigators at 986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
