Drug Arrest

On March 30th, 2009 in the evening hours, members of the East District Community Support Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Kennington Bay.

Seized was 74 grams of cocaine, 128 tablets of ecstasy and 38 grams of marihuana with a total street value of $7500 along with $715.00 in cash.

As a result of the investigation a 16 year old male and a 17 year old male are facing charges of

  • Possess Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking x 3
  • Possess of Proceeds of Crime

Both males were released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking.

Robbery - Strong Arm

On March 31st, 2009 at approximately 5:15 p.m. two females aged 56 years and 63 years were walking in the rear lane in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road. They were confronted by two males, one armed with a knife, who demanded and received their purses. The suspects fled and no one was injured.

The suspects are described

  • #1 - male between 15 - 20 years, slim build, 5’6” to 5’7”, wearing black balaclava, black jacket and black boots
  • #2 – male between 15 – 20 years, slim build, black jacket over black and white checkered hoodie, black sunglasses and black scarf

The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Detective Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2857 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Robbery

On April 1st, 2009 at approximately 1:15 a.m., two males were walking in the area of Keewatin Street and Alexander Avenue where they were stabbed and robbed of their case of beer by a group of males.

A 36 year old male was stabbed in the abdomen and was conveyed to hospital in non-life threatening condition where he remains in stable condition.

A 40 year old male was stabbed in the upper body and was treated and released from hospital.

The suspects are described as males, between 17 and 25 years of age wearing baggy clothing.

The investigation is continuing by Division 12 Detectives. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects or this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2839 or CrimeStoppers 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Suspicious Circumstances

On April 1st, 2009, shortly after 9:00 A.M., Emergency Services responded to a medical emergency in the 1300 block of Regent Avenue West.

An unresponsive female was located and conveyed to the hospital.

This incident is currently being investigated and no further information is available.

Suspicious Death

On April 1st, 2009, shortly after 9:00 a.m., Emergency Services responded to a medical emergency in the 1300 block of Regent Avenue West. An unresponsive female was located and conveyed to the hospital.

The female has been pronounced deceased. The cause of death is unknown at this time and an autopsy is pending.

This incident is currently being investigated and no further information is available today.
