For Immediate Release
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision
On Saturday, February 28th, 2009, at approximately 12:50 a.m., uniformed members were dispatched to the area of Henderson Highway and Roosevelt Place regarding a motor vehicle collision.
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that a vehicle was travelling southbound on Henderson Highway at a high rate of speed, after which time the driver allegedly lost control and collided with a garage in the area of the 100 block of Roosevelt Place.
Two occupants, a twenty-nine year old female and a twenty-three year old female were conveyed to hospital in critical condition.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.
Fire
On Saturday, February 28th, 2009, at approximately 6:10 a.m., emergency services were dispatched to attend a working fire in the area of the first 100 block of Wynford Drive.
As a result, residents from within the apartment building were evacuated. Some of the occupants were treated for possible smoke inhalation.
At this stage of the investigation, the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Damage to the building is estimated at $250,000.00.
Members of the Arson Strike Force are continuing with the investigation.
