Assault Arrests

On September 27th, 2008, a forty-one year old male became involved in a confrontation with a twenty-nine year old female in a beverage room in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street.

The male left the beverage room and was confronted a short distance away by two males who proceeded to physically assault him.  A passing Winnipeg Fire Paramedic unit located and treated the male and conveyed him to hospital in critical condition.  He remains in critical but stable condition.

On September 28th, two males, aged 22 and 42, were arrested by Division 13 detectives and charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with the incident.  Both were released on a Promise to Appear.

 

Robbery Arrest

During the month of June 2008, a male requested money from a female acquaintance and threatened to harm her if she declined.

Between July 8 and July 10th, a male misrepresented himself at a number of tool supply stores in the St. James area and fraudulently obtained a quantity of tools valued at just over $4,000.00.

Between September 13th and September 22nd, a male indicating he was armed attended a convenience store in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue and a restaurant in the 500 block of Pembina Highway on two occasions and demanded money.  He received an undisclosed amount of cash on two occasions and fled.  No one was injured as a result of the robberies.

The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of twenty-nine year old Kendal Wayne RAIKE Division 16 Uniform members with the assistance of the Major Crimes Unit on September 28th, 2008.

RAIKE was charged with Robbery X 3, Disguise with Intent, Utter Threats X 2 and Fail to Comply with the Conditions of a Recognizance X 2.  A number of warrants were also executed for Fraud Under $5,000.00 X 4, and court order breaches.

RAIKE was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
