Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision
On October 30th, 2007, shortly before 11:30 p.m. a motor vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Cavalier Drive. A 63 year old female was operating her vehicle northbound on Cavalier Drive. After stopping, the victim proceeded through the intersection of Cavalier Drive and Hamilton Avenue and was struck by a eastbound vehicle. The victim succumbed to her injuries.
The 28 year old male driver of the eastbound vehicle has been arrested and is facing charges of Drive Impaired Cause Death, Drive Dangerous Cause Death, Refuse a Breathalyzer and additional Highway Traffic Act charges.
School Threat Arrests
On October 25th, 2007, a message that threatened the safety and security of students and staff at Issac Newton Junior High School on Aberdeen Avenue, was written on a washroom wall. On October 30th, a second threatening message was located in a different washroom within the school. The subsequent police investigation has resulted in a 14 year old female being arrested and now facing charges of Utter Threats X 2 and Mischief Under $5000.00 X 2.
On October 29th, 2007, members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to Andrew Mynarski School on Machray Avenue in regards to a threatening message written on a washroom wall. The message threatened the safety and security of students and staff.
The police investigation resulted in a 13 year old female being arrested and now facing charges of Utter Threats and Mischief Under $5000.00.
