Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release
Motor Vehicle Pedestrian Collision
On December 29th, at approximately 9:00 p.m. a vehicle being operated north bound on Salter Street near Boyd Avenue collided with a 48 year old female pedestrian. The pedestrian was attempting to cross Salter Street.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital in unstable condition. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Collision Investigation Unit.
Marihuana Grow Operation
On December 29th, at approximately 4:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service Green Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the first one hundred block of Gardenia Bay.
Officers seized 627 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $702,240.00. A 51 year old male and a 44 year old female are facing charges of Produce Marihuana, Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking, Theft of Electricity and Mischief Over $5000.00.
Arson Arrest
On December 29th, shortly before 4:00 a.m. an apartment block in the 200 block of Morley Avenue is alleged to have been set on fire. Several persons were in the block at the time of this fire however no one received any injuries. The damage to the building is estimated at $1,500,000.00.
The Arson Task Force investigation has led to the arrest of a 39 year old female. She is facing charges of Arson to Property and Arson Disregard for Human Life and has been released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
