Suspicious Death

This morning shortly after 6:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to an apartment building in the 500 block of Maryland Street . Upon arrival officers found a female lying on the sidewalk unconscious. This female was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.

 

Forcible Confinement

Between October 29th and October 30th a 38 year old female was assaulted multiple times. The victim received four minor stab wounds to her lower body and was forced to remain in a suite and ordered to perform sexual acts on persons. The victim was able to escape and contact police.

Barry Russell HOULIND, 40 years of age of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm X 2, Assault with a Weapon X 2, Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement.

 

Child Abandonment

On the 29th of October, 2005, a one year old child was found left alone in a home in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue and taken to hospital. The child was located in a second floor bedroom and it is unknown how long the child had been left alone.

The 38 year old mother is now facing charges of child abandonment.

 

Halloween Gate Night

It would appear that the Winnipeg Police Service responded to approximately 11 calls for service that may have been related to Halloween Gate Night. These 11 calls for service were comprised of paintball, egging, vandalism and graffiti incidents.
