Sexual Assault Suspect Riding Bicycle Arrested
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:00 p.m. a lone male suspect was riding his bicycle in the downtown area when he approached a 24 year old female from behind as she was walking on Hardgrave. At that time he suddenly squeezed her buttocks, made a rude comment towards her, and then rode away.
The suspect returned a couple of minutes later, approaching the same victim, and proceeded to grab her breast. Once again, he fled the scene on his bike and Winnipeg Police were notified of the incident.
A short time later, this same suspect approached a second victim, a 20 year old female, as she was walking on Kennedy Street. He stopped and requested a cigarette from the victim. As the victim attempted to continue on her way, taking steps to avoid the suspect, he continued to follow her for a brief period of time. He then proceeded to sexually assault her by pushing his hands under her skirt. The victim attempted to ward off the suspect, and he immediately fled the area.
Winnipeg Police were notified of the second incident, and a short time later the suspect was observed by officers riding his bike in the area. Officers apprehended him at Broadway and Hargrave at which time the suspect uttered threats to kill both officers.
The suspect was identified as Nathan Robert ENNS, 27 years old of Winnipeg. He was subsequently charged with Sexual Assault x 2, Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2, Obstruct a Peace Officer.
Detectives from the WPS Sex Crimes Unit are now investigating the incidents, and are requesting that any possible additional victims who may have encountered this male are requested to contact the Winnipeg Police Service immediately at 204-986-6222.
