Males Arrested for Numerous Garage Break-Ins

Between April 24th and June 22nd, 2005 numerous detached garages were broken into in the North End of Winnipeg. During these break-ins an estimated $20,000.00 in property was stolen and an estimated $5,000.00 in damage caused to the garages.

On June 22nd, around 12:00 P.M., a male attended to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue where he was observed trying to break into a garage. Police were contacted and provided with a description of the male who was arrested in the area a short time later.

The subsequent investigation into these garage break-ins resulted in the arrest of a second male on June 23rd, 2005.

John Raven WARD, 21 yrs of Winnipeg has been charged with Break, Enter and Theft (x39).

Jacob Peter KLASSEN 43 yrs of no fixed address has been charged with Break, Enter and Theft (x14).

Both males have been detained in custody.

 

Suspect for Home Invasion

On June 10th, 2005 around 2:00 P.M. a male attended to a residence in the 900 block of Ingersoll Street where he knocked on the elderly female resident’s door. When the female opened the door the male forced entry and pushed her to the floor. He then began looking through the residence. The female was able to contact police and the male subsequently fled the residence and rode off on a bicycle down the back lane.

The female suffered minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.

The suspect is described as a male approximately 25yrs old, with a dark complexion, 5’7”-5-8” tall, stocky build, dark spiked hair style, unshaven, wearing a faded dark leather jacket with a liner, blue flannel shirt, and grey sweat pants.

The bicycle he was riding is only described as being a light metallic colour and appeared too small for the suspect.

Winnipeg Police Service is asking anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to contact Division # 11 Detectives at 986-6290 or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477.

 

Home Invasion Arrests

On June 23rd, 2005 shortly after midnight, in the 900 block of Carter Avenue, an elderly male was awaken by a knock on his window by a female known to him who was asking to use the phone.

The male opened the door for her and she was followed into the residence by a male. These persons threatened the elderly male and demanded cash, his vehicle and PIN for his bank card. When the suspects discovered the elderly male didn’t have a PIN they forced him to the basement where he was tied up. He was subsequently beaten and slashed with a knife several times.

The suspects stole some keys, some change and a mountain bicycle and fled the residence. The elderly male was treated at a hospital and released.

Lori OZERO 23 yrs, of Winnipeg has been charged with Forcible Confinement, Aggravated Assault and Robbery, and Christopher Corey TYRGSTAD 35 yrs of no fixed address has been charged with Forcible Confinement, Aggravated Assault and Break and Enter.

Both have been detained in custody.
