Male Tries To Entice Child Into Vehicle

On June 25th shortly after 5:00 p.m. a 6 year old child was playing on the front street in the 100 block of Mandalay Drive. A male approached and attempted to entice the child into his vehicle. He left when an adult approached.

The male is described as wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and having dark hair. He was driving a black Ford half-ton truck with a cab on the back.

Sexual Assault

On June 26th around 11:30 p.m. a 20 year old female was walking on Isbister Street near Capulet Crescent. A male who was completely naked, except for a jacket he was holding over his face, approached her and she attempted to run away. He attempted to stop her and in the process he punched her in the face. The victim sustained minor injury but made good her escape. The male was last seen running towards Portage Avenue.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, late 20’s to early 30’s, heavy build with a large belly, light colored hair in a buzz cut style.

 

Robbery

On June 27th shortly before 2:00 a.m. the 7-Eleven Store located in the 900 block of Archibald Street was robbed. Two males entered the store, produced brass knuckles and demanded cash. They obtained cash and cigarettes and fled the store.

The first male suspect is described as approximately 5’10” with a thin build.

The second male suspect is described as 5’6” to 5’8” with a thin build.

Both were described as wearing blue jeans and dark colored hooded sweaters obscuring their faces.

 

Gas Station Robbery

On June 27th shortly after 2:00 a.m. the Shell Gas Bar located in the 1100 block of St Mary’s Road was robbed. Two males entered the store, produced brass knuckles and demanded cash. They obtained cash and cigarettes and fled the store.

The first male suspect is described as early 20’s, 5’6”, average build.

The second male suspect is described as early 20’s, 6’, average build.

Both were described as wearing dark colored hooded sweaters obscuring their faces.

 

Robbery

On June 27th shortly before 3:00 a.m. the 7-Eleven Store located in the 400 block of Academy Road was robbed. Two males entered the store, produced a knife and took cash from the register. They then fled the store.

The first male suspect is described as late teens, 6’, average build.

The second male suspect is described as late teens, 5’6”, average build.

Both were wearing dark colored hooded sweaters.

 

Firearms/Drug Arrest On Manitoba Avenue

On June 26th shortly before 11:30 p.m. two males attended to a house in the 700 block of Manitoba Avenue to retrieve property from one of the male’s former room-mate. When refused, a firearm was pointed at the tenant. Police were notified and attended. The males were still on scene and were taken into custody. A loaded handgun and a small quantity of cocaine were located.

Jeffrey Tecson, 29 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Point Firearm, Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, Possess Firearm while Prohibited. He was detained in custody. A 39 year old male faces weapons and drug charges. He was released on a Promise to Appear.

 

Homicide Update: Identity of Victim

On June 26th shortly before 4:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service attended to a homicide on Dufferin Avenue. The male victim’s identity is now being released. He has been identified as Earl Glenn Schuldt, 39 years of age.

 

Winnipeg Police Service Member Being Invested Into Order of Merit

On June 28th Winnipeg Police Service member Constable Rick Kosowan will be invested into the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada. This will take place at a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Constable Kosowan has been a member for 28 years. He is being honoured for his contributions in improving relations between the police and Aboriginal community. He is the second Winnipeg Police Service member to be bestowed with this honour.

 

Sunday Night Cruising

During the evening of June 26th the Winnipeg Police Service assigned 15 two-officer units and one supervisor to patrol the areas frequented by the Sunday Night Cruisers. Officers issued 105 Provincial Offence Notices for various Highway Traffic Act offences. Two people were arrested on outstanding warrants. One male was issued a 24 hour suspension of his driver's license for a breathalyzer offence.

 

Accidental Death

On Monday, June 27, 2005 at 3:54 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Fire-Paramedic Service responded to the apartment complex at 138 Niakwa Road for a call of a male who had collapsed. A 58 year old male was located on the roof of the complex and was transported to the St. Boniface Hospital in critical condition. This male later succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

This male appears to have been performing maintenance on the building’s air conditioning system at the time of the accident.

This male’s name will be released pending confirmation of his identity from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
