Theft From Vending Machines

Between September, 2004 and June 22nd, 2005 it is estimated that over 200 vending machines in businesses, shopping centers, strip malls and hotels were broken into and vandalized. It is estimated that over $20,000.00 was stolen from these machines and over $29,000.00 in damage was caused.

On June 22nd, 2005 a 39 year old male and a 30 year old male of Winnipeg were arrested and are now facing charges of Theft Under $5000.00 X 43, Mischief Under $5000.00 X 43, Mischief Over $5000.00 and Possessing Break-In Tools. A 39 year old female also faces Theft Under $5000.00 X 2, Possessing Break-In Tools and Driving Disqualified charges.

 

Robbery

On June 23rd, 2005 shortly before 8:00 a.m. an adult female was walking on William Avenue towards the Health Sciences Centre. The victim was approached from behind by two suspects who demanded her purse and tote bag. A brief struggle ensued causing the victim to sustain minor injuries and the suspects fled the area.

The first suspect is described as female, late teens, 5’8”-5’9”, medium build, brown shoulder length hair wearing light colored summer clothing.

The second suspect is described as female, late teens, 5’4”-5’6”, medium build, dyed red hair, wearing light colored summer clothing.

A second similar incident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. as a 48 year old male was walking in the area of Bannatyne Avenue and Furby Street when he was pushed to the ground, kicked and had his wallet stolen. These incidents are believed to be related.

 

Fatal MVC-Cruise Night Update

Further to the Fatal MVC incident of Sunday June 5 2005, the police have received newer information concerning the Suspect Vehicle and Suspect Driver who left the fatal motor vehicle collision scene at Portage Avenue and Wallasey Street. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicle and occupants:

Suspect vehicle:

Newer Model Ford Mustang GT (1999 – 2004)
Black in colour (no stripes anywhere)
Hardtop
Either a missing or modified spoiler on the trunk
Standard transmission
Windows are not tinted

Suspect driver:

Male with a darker skin complexion
Short Dark Hair
Glasses
Late 20’s early 30’s
Stocky build
Was unshaven

Suspect passenger:

Caucasian male
Early 20’s
Lighter hair
