Shooting Incident

At 1:45 a.m. Wednesday June 15th, 2005 a serious incident took place involving a shooting in the vicinity of the Montcalm Motel Hotel at 2280 Pembina Hwy. There was one male victim taken to hospital. A number of witnesses are currently being interviewed. The investigation is continuing.

Homicide Investigation

On June 15th, shortly before 2:00 a.m. a 28 year old male received a gun shot wound to the upper body and was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Pembina Highway.

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is currently investigating this incident and no further details are available at this time.

 

Robbery Arrest

On June 7th, 2005 shortly before 2:00 a.m. the Shell Circle K store in the 700 block of Portage Avenue was robbed by a male armed with a knife. The same day shortly after 7:00 a.m. the Mac’s Store in the first 100 block of Osborne Street was robbed by a male armed with a knife. On the 13th of June, 2005 shortly before 3:00 a.m. this Mac’s Store was again robbed by a male armed with a knife. The suspect fled these robberies with cash and cigarettes.

On the 14th of June, 2005, shortly before 9:00 p.m. the Shell Circle K store in the 700 block of Portage Avenue was robbed by a lone male armed with a knife. The store clerk refused to supply this male with cash and activated the magnetic door locks, locking the suspect inside. Winnipeg Police attended to this location and arrested one male without incident.

Stephan Pittman, 27 years of age of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon X 4 and Disguise with Intent X 4.

 

Suspicious Person

On June 14th, 2005, shortly after 12:30 p.m. a 13 year old female was approached by a male in the area of Molson Street and Kimberley Avenue. This male attempted to get the 13 year old to come over to his vehicle however she refused and ran from the area. A similar incident occurred also at lunch time in the same area. A male approached two other 13 year old females and attempted to get them to come over to his vehicle, again both females ran from the area.

The vehicle is described as a Burgundy colored Jeep 4 X 4, sport utility vehicle.

The male involved is described as 30-40 years of age, wearing a black bandana on his head and a black leather jacket with a grey goatee.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind parents to speak with their children to ensure they do not approach strangers or strangers’ vehicles under any circumstances.
