History of the Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1981 in Wichita, Kansas and has grown into the largest worldwide fundraiser for Special Olympics.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run was first introduced in Manitoba in 1988. Event organizers have consistently achieved their goal, raising in excess of $2.25 million, due in large part to the generous support of sponsors and the unwavering commitment of law enforcement professionals who gather to participate in this run.
There are currently more than 2,500 athletes, coaches and volunteers from 100 communities in Manitoba who take part in Special Olympic Programs. Find out more about Special Olympics Manitoba: http://www.specialolympics.mb.ca.
Lost Medication
Yesterday evening shortly before 9:30 p.m. a male exited the Kildonan Place Shopping Centre at 1555 Regent Avenue and went directly to his vehicle parked on the lot. He placed several packages on the roof of his vehicle and in his haste, the shopper left the packages on the roof as he drove off the lot. All of the items in the packages were lost including a vial containing 60 X 24 milligram pills of the prescription drug “HYDROMORPHCONTIN".
The shopper attempted to find his lost items however it appears someone may have picked them up shortly after his departure from the lot.
The ingestion of this medication alone or in a combination, if not administered properly, could have serious side effects and may in some cases be lethal.
If found, please drop off at any police station or hospital.
