Break and Enter Suspect Arrested
Between April and May of 2005, a suspect male targeted several apartment complexes in the west St. James area. He broke in to suites targeting electronic items, cash and jewellery to values estimated at $25,000.00. The suspect pawned several items and members of Winnipeg Police Service, District 2 detectives, entered into an investigation. On May 31st, 2005 detectives arrested a male.
Joshua Baker, 24 years of Winnipeg is charged with Break and Enter commit offence X 10. Break and enter with intent X 3. He was released on a promise to appear.
Male on “Wanted List” Turns Self In
Tuesday, May 31st shortly before 11:00 p.m., Michel Verrier, 29 years of Winnipeg turned himself in at the Public Safety Building. Verrier was the subject of 4 warrants.
Suspect Wanted for Sexual Assault
On April 30th, 2005 at approximately 4:30 a.m. a female was walking in the area of the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue, returning to a residence. She was approached by a lone male, who forced her between two houses and sexually assaulted her. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect.

Male is described as: aboriginal in appearance, approximately 30 years, 6' tall, heavy build, brown eyes, straight collar length dark hair, moustache and his teeth appeared smaller than normal.
At the time the male was wearing an older dark blue nylon jacket, sweatpants and a dark baseball hat worn backwards.

Elmwood Community Cadet Corps
In January 2005 the Winnipeg Police Service Community Police in the Elmwood area began a Community Cadet Corps for children ranging from 11 to 15 years. The Corps met weekly at Elmwood High School and learnt about discipline, community involvement, drill and police related topics, such as Identification Techniques, K9, First Aid and also goal setting and problem solving. The Corp is run by volunteers and is assisted by Winnipeg Police Constable Scott Wiley.
