Organized Crime Unit Receives International Award for Work on Project Flatlined

2016 Robert Faulkner Memorial Outstanding Investigation (Canada) Award)

September 12, 2016 - Congratulations to the members of the WPS Organized Crime Unit. They were presented with the 2016 Robert Faulkner Memorial Outstanding Investigation (Canada) Award for their work on "Project Flatlined".

Project Flatlined was spearheaded by the Organized Crime Unit in response to a turf war between the Hell Angels and the Rock Machine that included numerous fire-bombings and shootings of businesses and residences, and vicious assaults between the groups.

Public safety was severely compromised for the community and the conflict was raising public fears.

In response, 16 members of these criminal organizations were arrested and convicted due to the overwhelming police evidence. Sentences ranged from two to 11 years in prison and approximately $2 million in proceeds of crime were seized.

The award was presented at the International Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators (IOMGIA) Annual Training Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
