Winnipeg Police Service proud to participate in Inaugural North Winnipeg Nomads Flag Football Tournament in Support of Never Alone Foundation

The Winnipeg Police Service is proud to be among the participating teams in the North Winnipeg Nomad’s inaugural Never Alone Foundation Football Classic.

The co-ed flag football tournament takes place Saturday September 26th at Markus Howell Field at Charlie Krupp Stadium, the home to Manitoba’s largest amateur football program -the North Winnipeg Nomads.

Winnipeg Nomads“This is a great opportunity to marry football, business, and philanthropy for the betterment of all,” says Jeffrey Bannon, Past President of the Winnipeg Nomads Football Club. “The Winnipeg Nomads have been a long standing example of commitment to the youth of the area.  (Title sponsor) Ivan's Autobody and Glass have also been a cornerstone in the community for over 30 years and are committed to contributing to a better life for so many. 

“We look forward to the partnership and a great event in support of the nomads, the community and the fight against cancer.”

A team of eight Winnipeg Police Service members are taking part, including our own ringer in residence – former Blue Bomber Shawn Gallant who now serves as a police officer.

“We’re hoping some fun on the football field will lead to some fantastic fundraising in support of the fight against cancer,” says Sgt. Danny Boyko of the Winnipeg Police Service.

“Whether it’s on the job, on the football field or dealing with this dreadful disease – cancer - we are stronger when we work together. That is why we are honoured to support the Nomads and the Never Alone Foundation.”  

Never Alone FoundationEach team with have special guest coaches featuring Blue Bombers alumni, including Grey Cup Champions David Black and Lyle Bauer.

The co-ed tournament features a round-robin format the winner taking home hardware and bragging rights for a full year.  This inaugural event goes rain or shine, cloud or wind, we’ll play in the mud even the snow as well!

 “It’s simply an honour to be able to have our local heroes be able to come to our field, our gridiron and show their support not only for the Nomads but the Never Alone Foundation,” said Nathan Yamron. President of the North Winnipeg Nomads Football Club. “We admire all these organizations and are proud to be able to part of such a community event.”

Bring the entire family to not only watch the games but participate in family fun games and activities for the entire family.
The general public is also invited for our Awards Celebration at Tavern United– Canad Inns Garden City on Saturday September 26th  at 6:00 pm.
