Winnipeg Brings The Heat to World Police & Fire Games

You’ve undoubtedly heard of the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and the Pan Am Games; but have you ever heard of the World Police Fire Games?

The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial athletic event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world.  The Games attract approximately 10,000 entrants, slightly fewer than the Summer Olympic Games, and exceeding the third position holder, the Commonwealth Games.

The year’s games are being held in Fairfax, Virginia and a team of emergency responders from Winnipeg are proudly representing out city.

The Winnipeg Police Volleyball Team – The HEAT – is on hand for this year’s game. The team is unique in that it is comprised of four members of the Winnipeg Police Service, along with one members of the Winnipeg Fire-Paramedic Service and a member from RCMP D Division.
