Manitoba Association of chiefs of PoliceThe Manitoba Association of Chiefs of Police is hosting the Provincial Police and Peace Officers Memorial Service, on Sunday, September 29th at 11 a.m. on the south side grounds of the Manitoba Legislature.

Should the weather not cooperate, the Service will take place inside the Legislature, 2nd Floor Rotunda Area.

This Service will coincide with the Annual Canadian Police and Peace Officer Memorial Service held in Ottawa on this same date.

On September 24, 1998 the Government of Canada proclaimed the last Sunday in September of every year as the Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day.

The Proclamation was made to give Canadians an opportunity to formally express appreciation for the dedication of police and peace officers who make the ultimate, tragic sacrifice to keep our communities safe.

Next year’s event will coincide with the International Association of Women Police Conference being held in Winnipeg. Hundreds of delegates from around the world will join the parade.
