School Safety Patrol Program
Montrose School Patrols Recognized as Winnipeg's Top Team for 2012-2013 School Year

Congratulations to the School Safety Patrols at Montrose School for being named Winnipeg’s top School Patrol team for the 2012-2013 school year.

The Patrols were presented with their trophy at the 39th Annual School Safety Patrol Awards, held May 24th.

Every year the patrols are judged on their ability, professionalism and technique while on patrol by the School Education Section of the Winnipeg Police Service.

In 2013, there were approximately 7,000 patrols ensuring our children arrive safely to their schools.

Mackenzie Taylor from Robertson School was recipient of the 2013 Louise Staples Award. The Award recognizes the most efficient patrol captain. It is named for Ms. Staples who was a teacher at Greenway School. She was instrumental in starting up the School Patrol program in Winnipeg.

Special recognition also goes to Victory School in the Seven Oaks School Division. They were presented the CAA Manitoba Trophy for being the Most Improved team this year.

The Winnipeg Police Service has been involved in the School Safety Patrol Program since 1936. Winnipeg is proud to have the first fully organized and officially recognized school patrol program in Canada. The School Safety Patrol Program is beginning its 77th year.

“CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ON ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR"
