Being a Winnipeg police officer is an exciting and challenging career for a woman!

General patrol officers enjoy a varied work experience. They are our front line resource in emergency situations and are committed to the philosophy of a Community Policing Model.

Employment as a Police Constable begins the day you start at the Academy, which means you’ll receive a salary beginning on your first day of training.

The police service offers opportunities to transfer to many different areas (including specialty units), and there is room for advancement to higher ranks.

We have created a Women’s Network to identify and deal with issues specific to women officers, including recruitment, mentoring, retention and promotion.

Look through this section of the Web site to learn more about becoming an officer, and what it’s like to be a woman on our force.
