3. My car was stolen, recovered and towed. Where is it?

If the vehicle has Manitoba plates, it was towed to the Manitoba Public Insurance compound at 1981 Pleisses Road.

If the vehicle has out-of-province plates, it was towed to Tartan Towing at 41 Higgins.

4. I want to report the attempted theft of my car and/or damage to my car. Who do I call?

5. Which vehicles are the most at risk of being stolen? Is my vehicle on the at risk list?

A list of the vehicles that are the most at risk for being stolen is compiled by Manitoba Public Insurance. You can learn whether your vehicle is on the list by visiting their Web site: http://www.mpi.mb.ca/

6. How can I obtain statistical information regarding auto theft?

The Winnipeg Police Service Stolen Auto Unit does not supply the public with internal stolen auto statistics. You can, however, refer to the City of Winnipeg CrimeStat web site or the Manitoba Public Insurance web site for more information.

7. Where or how do I get a new Vehicle Identification Number for my vehicle?

A replacement VIN is called a PGSKIN (pronounced pig-skin).

Replacement VINs are available through the vehicle licensing department of Manitoba Public Insurance. This service is no longer managed by Winnipeg Police.
