Did you know?

  • That the Winnipeg Police Service currently has 211 Aboriginal/Diverse officers.
  • The Winnipeg Police Service has 2 tipis. The first was given to us by the AMC Grand Chief Rod Bushie in 1995, and the second is to be unveiled in spring of 2008.
  • The Winnipeg Police Service was one of the agencies responsible for founding the Law Enforcement Aboriginal and Diversity Network, and hosted the LEAD conference in June of 2003.
  • Each spring the officers in Division 13 host the “North End Feast”, and that 2007 marked the 11th annual Feast.
  • The Diversity Relations Section did over 150 presentations last year to the community in topics ranging from;

The Diversity Relations Section recently nominated Cree-Lyn Blacksmith for the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples National Youth Council – Youth Award in the Culture and Heritage Category, and she won! Congratulations Cree-Lyn who received her award in Halifax in early November.
