Diversity Resource Team
Winnipeg is made up of a multitude of long standing and newly arising diverse cultures. The Winnipeg Police Service recognizes the unique nature of these communities, and is committed to enhancing services and developing strong relationships with these communities.
The Diversity Resource Team’s objective is to establish a diverse representation of individuals committed to promoting and encouraging diversity. These “Ambassadors of Diversity” assist the Diversity Unit throughout the year with different events occurring in the city, training and education, awareness, and acting as active liaisons with a variety of communities.
The Diversity Resource Team reflects the importance of one of our five Core Competencies:
RESPECTING DIVERSITY
Engages with all kinds and classes of people equitably; deals effectively with all races, nationalities, cultures, disabilities, ages and sexes; hires variety and diversity without regard to class; supports equal and fair treatment and opportunity for all. We treat all people with dignity and respect. We demonstrate fair and equitable practices in our service delivery and in the workplace, striving to remove all forms of discrimination.
