On November 25th, 2011 at approx. 12:50 p.m. two male suspects attended to an MLC store in the 1500 block of regent Ave. Once inside the store the two suspects selected a quantity of liquor and concealed it on their person. Both suspects then passed by all checkouts without paying and exited the store. They were seen by witnesses to enter a white Chevy. Malibu.

Sexual Assault

On April 18th, 2011 a 16 yr old female was walking in the area of Polo Park when she was approached by a male in his 30’s riding a bicycle. The male suspect befriended the young female and they spent the next several hours together. They eventually ended up in a house in the St. Vital area. The house was vacant and the suspect indicated that he was a contract painter. It was during this time that the suspect carried out a sexual assault on the victim. The suspect may also go by the name of “Sam”.

Car Jacking

On Jan. 4th, 2012 at approx. 5:45 a.m. an elderly female had pulled her car out of the garage parking it on the driveway. The female left her purse in the car and returned to the house to get something. Once inside the house the victim heard her car running and both she and her husband ran outside approaching the car to find a male inside the car. The female opened the driver’s door as the male suspect began to reverse onto the street knocking the female over. The females husband came to assist, but was nearly hit by the male speeding away in their car. The suspect and another male were later captured on video using the victim’s stolen credit card.

On December 23rd, 2011 at approx. 10:30 p.m. a jets fan had just left the MTS Center after a game and boarded a #16 City Transit bus at Main & McDermott. A few stops later the two suspects boarded the bus. One of the suspects sat down beside the male victim and demanded his headphones and a Jets jersey that he was wearing, and produced a knife threatening the victim with it. After the victim handed over his property to his robbers both suspects made a quick exit at Osborne & Mostyn.

On December 19th, 2011 at approx. 1:00 p.m. an 81 yr old male was waiting to board a city transit bus at Portage and Memorial. The male slipped and fell on the stairs upon boarding, at which time a female directly behind the male also fell falling upon the 81 yr old. Once both were back up on their feet the female got very angry at the male and began trying to strike him in the face. She connected striking the elderly male in the mouth. The driver intervened and attempted to call Police at which time the female fled from the bus which had not yet moved.

On December 16th, 2011 at approx. 9:20 p.m. a delivery driver for a pizza restaurant located in the 1700 block of Henderson Hwy. returned to the business and hung up his coat near the front counter. A few minutes later he noticed a male enter the store, but didn’t take notice of him. Shortly after the delivery driver realized that his jacket was taken along with the keys to his car. Video captured two males taking off in the delivery car, which was later used in a hit and run offence.

On October 23rd, 2011 a lone male attended a bingo hall located in the 1500 block of Main St. and when the employee had briefly stepped away from the cash box the suspect grabbed the money and ran down the stairs and out the door. His image was captured on camera.

On November 9th, 2011 at approx. 1:00 p.m. a lone male walked into a department store located in the 400 block of Portage Ave. went behind a checkout counter and took a large shopping bag and then proceeded to the Men’s Department where he proceeded to stuff in a very expensive fur jacket into the bag. The suspect then proceeded out the doors making no attempt to pay. Investigators have also learned that this was not the suspect’s first time at using this tactic.

On October 21st, 2011 a male and female attended to a large grocery store in the 1500 block of Regent Ave. where they loaded up a shopping cart and headed for the exits. A store greeter noticed them attempting to leave without paying and tried to stop them, but they just rammed by her. Just outside they were stopped as another employee was bringing in a load of shopping carts from the parking lot. The two suspects left the cart and made a run for it.

On December 3rd, 2011 a group of males were hanging around in a parking lot of a gas bar in the 2000 block of Pembina Hwy. At one point one of the group walked over and kicked an illuminated business sign busting it and causing the lights to go out. One of the group was caught on tape going into the business.

On October 31st, 2011 a lone male suspect attended to a gas bar located in the 1000 block of Beaver Hill and filled up his car with no intent on paying for it as he had placed stolen license plates on the car prior to filling up. His image and car were captured on the video surveillance.

On November 21st, 2011 a series of three garage fires took place in the 500-600 block of Home St. The damage was extensive to the three properties. This was a deliberate act of Arson which the suspect responsible was captured on a nearby surveillance camera. Police are hoping a member of the public will recognize the suspect from the photo provided.

Strong-arm Robbery

On October 6th, 2011 at approx. 2:17 a.m. the male victim who is wheelchair bound was wheeling himself down York Ave. near Donald St. when he was approached from behind by one male and two females. The victim was asked for a cigarette and when he stated he had none the male suspect began punching him in the head knocking him out of his wheelchair. While lying helpless on the ground the male suspect went through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet and contents. The male’s picture was captured in a restaurants’ camera that he attended earlier.

On October 29th, 2011 two female victims had just left a beer vendor in the 600 block of Selkirk Ave. when they were surrounded and accosted by 3 females and 2 males. When the victim’s refused to give up their case of beer they were attacked resulting in one of the victims being stabbed in the back and pepper sprayed. The beer was taken and all the attackers fled. Below is a photo of 3 of the 5 attackers.

On November 4th, 2011 at approx. 5:00 p.m. two males attended to an electronics store located in the 800 block of Leila Ave. and were captured on store security cameras as they selected several different electronic items and then made their way to the back of the store into the loading bay area. One of the males was then observed to pull out some wire cutters to cut the alarm wires, setting off the alarm. Both males fled out the back door, and were able to make good their escape.

On September 17th, 2011 four male suspects broke into a bar located in the 300 block of Narin Ave. Entry was gained by smashing out a window in the front lobby area. The four males made their way into the front office, but quickly fled upon hearing the audible alarm sounding. One of the suspects suffered a cut during the break in leaving traces of blood behind.

On October 3rd, 2011 at approx. 2:30 a.m. a 48 yr old male and female companion had exited a restaurant in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Ave. and were standing outside waiting for a taxi, when two male suspects exited the same establishment and re-ignited a argument with the victim that had began earlier inside. The victims’ had was knocked off his head and when he bent to retrieve it he was pushed to the ground and a cane he was using was taken from him by one of the suspects and used to strike the victim. While down both suspects struck and kicked the victim repeatedly. The victim required medical attention for the injuries he sustained.

On November 7th, 2011 at approx. 3:30 p.m. a 27 yr old female was leaving a public library in the 700 block of Keewatin St. walking towards her parked car when two native males approached her and one of the males told her to give him the bag she was carrying. When the female refused the male punched her in the face and tried ripping the bag from the female. The female struggled and called for help and was punched in the face again until a bystander came to her aid causing the two males to flee.

On October 29th, 2011 at approx. 4:20 p.m. a male and female entered a sports store located in the 1500 block of Regent Ave. where a store employee observed the pair to be removing security tags from some clothing items. The employee confronted them and told them to leave. Things escalated and the male suspected proceeded to punch the employee before fleeing the store.

On September 29th, 2011 at approx. 2:00 a.m. two female suspects entered a convenience store located in the 800 block of Arlington St. The two female employees noticed the suspects acting suspiciously. One of the store employees went to the front door to check if the females were attempting to shoplift. The two females pushed the first employee down to the ground and then ran behind the front counter and assaulted the second employee with a canned drink. The suspects then grabbed some of the merchandise and fled the store.

On October 9th, 2011 at approx. 4:40 a.m. a lone male approached a retail business in the 500 block of Sargent Ave. where he pulled out a unknown black object from his jacket and proceeded to brake out to front door panes of glass to the business. The alarm sounded and the male fled. His image was captured by nearby security cameras.

On July 11th, 2011 a male attended to a financial institute located in the 800 block of Leila Ave. and using false ID proceeded to open an account. Over a period of time this male defrauded the bank and its patrons by withdrawing a sum of money that he never had, and has since disappeared. There has been Police have the photo of the male that was used when he opened the account.

On October 10th, 2011 at approx. 8:00 p.m. three males used a large chunk of cement curbing to brake out a pane of glass to the front doors of a grocery store located in the 500 block of Mountain Ave. The three suspects were captured on video surveillance as they ran in and looted some of the stores’ merchandise.

On October 9th, 2011 a lone male suspect was captured on video surveillance as he approached the front windows of a grocery store located in the 2200 block of Portage Ave. At approx. 7:53 a.m. the suspect was seen to pull out a large cement rock from underneath his jacket and proceeded to hurl it through the front glass of the business. The male then fled on foot.

On the afternoon of September 11th, 2011 a suspect (s) attended to a country club in the 100 block of Country Club Rd. and made their way to the locker rooms, where entry was forced to one or more lockers where personal items were taken including wallets and credit cards. The stolen credit cards were later used at two different electronic stores located on St. James St. where expensive items were purchased. Police are seeking the identity of the two males pictured.

On September 24th, 2011 a lone male suspect entered a grocery store located in the 1600 block of Kenaston Blvd. and placed several large pieces of meat into his shopping cart. This male proceeded past checkouts and out the store, and even returned a second time to grab another steak and once again left without paying. The male was captured on the store’s security camera.

On September 6th, 2011 at approx. 8:30 p.m. a male victim was standing outside in front of a shopping mall located in the 300 block of Portage Ave. when he was approached by a male in an agitated state. The suspect initiated a confrontation with the victim and proceeded to stab the victim in the leg. There was a struggle between the two men, which ended with the suspect fleeing on foot leaving behind a bicycle. The suspects’ image was captured on a nearby security camera.

On September 12th, 2011 three males entered a grocery store in the 1900 block of Bishop Grandin and proceeded to fill up a plastic cart with disposable razor blades. The males then moved to a less trafficked area and loaded all the razor blades into a backpack. The males had been spotted by store employees and attempted to stop the suspects upon exiting the store. The back pack was recovered, but the suspects were able to make a get away. Two of the three suspects were captured on the stores’ security cameras.

On September 19th, 2011 a male suspect attended to an office building in the 1400 block of Taylor Ave. The male then gained access to the building by prying open a door at the rear of the building. Once inside the suspect was able to roam throughout, and before being discovered by the cleaning staff he stole some electronics as he fled the same way he entered. His image was captured on the buildings security cameras.

On September 3rd, 2011 a city transit bus stopped at Main St. and Selkirk Ave. to pick up a fare. When the male suspect stepped onto the bus he failed to deposit the required amount of money. The driver asked this male to deposit the remainder which caused the male to get upset. The suspect proceeded to grab all the transfers and then attempted to spit in the drivers’ face. The suspect missed and hit the driver in the shoulder before fleeing on foot.

On August 29th, 2011 at approx. 5:30 p.m. a female had stopped at a gas station in the 3100 block of Portage Ave. to fill up. The victim then went inside to pay for the gas leaving behind her purse in the care of the two remaining passengers. The Police investigation has revealed that the man in line ahead of the victim exited the store and passing the victim’s open car window reached in and grabbed the purse and fled in a waiting car.

On April 30th, 2011 sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. a lone male suspect made entry to an apartment block in the 1000 block of Molson Ave. This male then pried open a door to an office in the rear of the building where he broke into a safe and stole its contents. On August 31st, 2011 at approx. 5:30 p.m. a male entered a grocery store located in the 200 block of Marion St. The suspect proceeded to select several cuts of meat and then made a quick exit without paying for the items. The suspect had a red scooter running and waiting for him, but store security caught up to him and a brief struggle ensued. The result was the suspect dropped all the store property in addition to leaving his helmet behind, but did succeed in making his getaway on his scooter.

Gun Incident

On September 4th, 2011 at approx. 4:30 a.m. the male victim in this matter had attended to a convenience store located in the 1500 block of St. Marys Ave. and made a purchase inside the store. Upon exiting the store and going around the corner he was met with an unknown male pointing a handgun at him threatening that he was going to kill him. The victim turned and fled back into the store where Police were called. The suspect fled prior to Police arrival. The suspect’s image was captured when he was in the store prior to the gun incident.

On April 7th, 2011 at approx. 4:47 p.m. a lone female attended to a financial institute located in the 1800 block of Portage Ave. This female approached a teller producing a United States one hundred dollar bill, asking to cash it for Canadian currency. The bill was spotted as a counterfeit and the female fled prior to Police arrival.

Counterfeit Money

On March 26th, 2011 at approx. 12:35 a.m. a taxicab was called to a fast food restaurant in the 3400 of Portage Ave. where 2 males were picked up. The males had the cab driver take them to an address in Headingly, MB. Upon arrival the males passed a counterfeit bill to the driver and said they would get the rest of the faire from inside the house. When the males exited the cab they both bolted and ran off between the houses. Both their images were captured on the taxi’s camera.

On August 6th, 2011 a small group of males were on foot near a parkade on King St. when one of the males grabbed a wooden sign from nearby and proceed to throw the sign at the metal garage door. This act caused damage to the parkade door. This act of Mischief was captured on video.

On August 17th, 2011 a lone male entered a beer vendor located in the 1900 block of Portage Ave. As this male entered the store he reached over a railing and grabbed a case of beer and turned and fled from the store. He was pursued outside where the suspect jumped into a black pick up truck and fled the scene.

On July 21st, 2011 a lone male suspect went to a large department store in the 2300 block of McPhillips St. where he proceeded to take a crow bar from one department to use in an attempt to pry open an unmanned cash register in another department. The suspect was unable to open the register, but did damage it in the process. In the face of his failure the suspect fled the store.

On August 9th, 2011 at approx. 2:30 am security cameras captured a break in to an electronics store in the 1500 block of Regent Ave. The lone suspect was seen to break a window on the front door to gain entry and then moved very quickly to steal merchandise and make his getaway. The Police investigation turned up that the suspect had been in the store prior to the break in during regular business hours to case out ahead of time what he wanted to steal. The photo is of the suspect in the dark shirt and a person of interest in the striped shirt.

On July 17th, 2011 a lone male drove to a gas station located in the 1300 block of Taylor Ave. The suspect filled up his Hyundai Tiburon and then quickly got back in his car and drove off, making no attempt to pay. His image was captured on surveillance video.

In the early hours of June 1st, 2011 a lone male entered a fenced compound of a business located in the 100 block of Isabel St. and proceeded to break a window located at the back of the business setting off the alarm. Hearing the alarm the suspect fled the scene prior to Police arrival.

On July 12th, 2011 2 males and 1 female attended to 2 different department stores in an attempt to steal a big screen TV. The first attempt was at a business in the 1500 block of Regent Ave. where they tried to produce a fake receipt and then attempted to have store employees load the TV up for them. They failed in this attempt, but then attended to a different business and this time the trio just removed a TV from the shelf and walked out of the store. The theft was not immediately discovered, but the thieves were captured on the stores cameras.

On July 15th, 2011 a taxi was called to Queen Street and picked up 2 males and 1 female. While driving on Portage Ave. the female who was seated in the front passenger seat became angry with the driver when he would not permit her to smoke in the taxi. It reached the point that the driver pulled over and told the passengers they would have to leave. The female began to strike the driver in the face and attempted to grab his radio when he radioed for help. All three passengers fled upon hearing that Police had been called.

On December 1st, 2010 a lone male attended to a financial institute located in the 800 block of Portage Ave. This male presented a stolen cheque to the teller with the intent to cash it. When the teller went to verify the cheque the male got cold feet and fled the bank. The males’ image was captured on the security cameras.

On June 21, 2011 a female who is considered to be responsible for several shoplifting offences attended to a clothing retailer located in the 600 block of Empress St. and proceeded to conceal several hundred dollars worth of clothing on her person and then exit the store without paying for the property. The females image had been captured on security cameras from other stores.

On June 22nd, 2011 a male suspect attended to a store in the 2500 block of Portage Ave, and slipped in behind a counter without being detected. Once there the male pried open a locked cabinet and stole a laptop computer concealing it in his clothing. The suspect made good his escape, but had his image captured by the stores’ security cameras.

On June 23rd, 2011 a female suspect boarded a city Transit bus and refused to pay full fair. This led to an argument with the driver who demanded that the female pay the required amount. The female became enraged at the driver and proceeded to spit at him hitting him in the face arm and hand. The female then fled the bus, but her actions were caught in the in bus camera system.

On March 2nd, 2011 at approx. 5:10 a.m. a lone male attended to a business in the 1100 block of Henderson Hwy. and proceeded to take a large concrete block and throw it through the front window. The business’s alarm was triggered, but the suspect managed to take several pieces of electronic/gaming items before fleeing the scene. The suspect’s actions were captured on the stores’ security cameras.

On May 14th, 2011 at approx. 3:00 a.m. a group of four males were in the area of the 100 block of Gary St. and as they came upon a parkade entrance one of the males took it upon himself to grab the stop arm and break it off from its mount. The act was captured by the parkade surveillance camera.

On February 2, 2011 an unknown male entered a hotel restaurant located in the 1400 block of Regent Ave. It was at approx. 3:00 a.m. that the male was discovered wandering in the restaurant by security personal and escorted out when the suspect claimed to be lost and looking for a washroom. It wasn’t until after the suspect left that it was discovered that the office had been entered by the suspect and a quantity of money was taken. The investigation has turned up that the suspect had used a set of stolen hotel keys to make entry into the restaurant and office. Hotel security cameras captured the suspects’ image.

On April 11th, 2011 at approx. 4:30 p.m. a male victim had left a bar/hotel on Henderson Hwy. and was walking on foot when he was approached by two unknown males riding mountain bikes. The victim continued walking carrying on a conversation with the two riders. When the victim was in the back lane of Hawthorne near Cheriton one of the suspects punched the victim in the head from behind, knocking the victim to the ground. The same suspect then grabbed a back pack from the victim and both suspects fled on their bikes. Police were able to obtain security camera footage of the suspects from the bar.

On April 19th, 2011 at approx. 8:50 p.m. an elderly male was alone in a suite in an apartment block in the 300 block of Kennedy St. Suddenly an unknown male entered the suite and began searching around. The suspect then grabbed hold of the elderly victim and searched him, taking money from his wallet. The suspect fled the suite and was captured on the buildings’ security cameras.

On May 10th, 2011 sometime during business hours two male suspects arrived at a large department store in the 2300 block of McPhillips St. Both suspects made their way to the back of the store and slipped into the warehouse section of the business. The stores’ security cameras caught both suspects in the act of stealing some electronic merchandise and escaping out a side door.

On April 6th, 2011 the victim in this matter was an employee in a store in a large shopping mall located on Portage Ave. near St. James St. The suspect entered the store and made his way over to where the victim was storing her purse. When the moment was right the suspect lifted the wallet from the purse, and made his way from the store. When the victim noticed the theft she cancelled all her bank/credit cards. The victim was advised that a withdrawal was attempted from one of the stolen credit cards. The suspect’s image was captured by the security camera from the bank that the attempt withdrawal was made at.

On April 23rd, 2011 an attempt theft occurred from an ATM machine located at a financial institute in the 100 block of Bison Dr. A male and female attended to the ATM and the male attempted to make a withdrawal with something other than a bank card. The transaction was declined and the male proceeded to kick the ATM several times resulting in damage to the machine. Both suspects image was captured by the ATM’s camera.

On February 19th, 2011 two young females ages 7 and 8 were shopping with their mother in a store in the 3500 block of Portage Ave. While the girls’ mother was in line to pay, both girls walked up ahead and were standing by themselves when an unknown male approached them and attempted to lure the girls into his nearby car. Begining on January 26th, 2011 an unknown male attended to a local financial institution claiming that he had lost his bank card and was seeking a new one. The suspect was able to obtain a new card, however the actual card holder was an elderly male living in B.C. The suspect armed with a certain amount of personal information of the card holder was able to rack up withdrawals and purchases of several thousand dollars. The police investigation turned up a photo of the suspect captured on a surveillance camera at one of the stores where a fraudulent purchase was made.

On March 7th, 2011 at approx. 6:00 a.m. the suspect was in a taxi cab and had the driver stop momentarily at a gas bar in the 800 block of Portage Ave. to purchase a beverage. On October 5th, 2010 an intoxicated male boarded a transit bus on Main near Higgins. The bus continued north on Main St., and by the time the driver stopped at Selkirk Ave. this intoxicated male managed to get into an argument with two other passengers on the bus. On December 7th, 2010 the male victim was walking to his car parked in the lot of a shopping mall in the 800 block of Keewatin when he was approached by a unknown male demanding the victim to hand over his car. On December 12th, 2010 the male suspect boarded a city transit bus at Balmoral and Sargent and didn’t pay the fair. The driver reports that moments later the same male returned to the front and began yelling at the driver threatening to punch him in the head. The driver feeling the male wanted to exit the bus stopped and opened the door for him to leave, however the male made hand gestures indicating he had a gun and then lifted his shirt to show a gun tucked in the waistband of his pants. Another passenger came forward to assist the driver at which time the suspect exited the bus. Police were called, but were not able to locate the suspect. On August 31st, 2010 six persons made their way to an apartment block in the 100 block of Cathedral Ave. and under false pretenses were able to gain entry to one of the suites. On December 13th, 2010 the suspect male entered a grocery store in the 1600 block of Ness Ave. and informed a female employee that a drink machine outside the store had taken his money and he never got his drink. On October 2nd 2009, a male selected $ 45.00 in groceries from a food store in Osborne Village. He concealed them in his jacket and headed for the doors. Observed by the store security, he was approached in the parking lot but managed to elude the officer, leaving in a green van.

Around 6:30 a.m. on May 22nd, a lady was attacked in the kiosk while using the ATM at Sherbrook and Notre Dame. The suspect male scooped up her withdrawal and assaulted her, biting her when she resisted. He was last seen riding off on the lady’s bike.

Just before noon on May 5th, 2010, a bus passenger was attacked as he stepped off the bus at Portage and Balmoral. The suspect knocked him to the ground and kicked him several times. This victim was particularly vulnernable, as he cannot speak or defend himself.

A Transcona car show was the scene of an inappropriate touch and hug of an 11 year old girl. While gazing at the cars, an elderly male approached this young lady, and, while pointing out the type of vehicle, pulled her closer. She was asked where her boyfriend was, as well.

Three business offices were broken into in the early morning of April 23rd 2010, in a building on Osborne St North. Strangely, the lone male suspect managed to cheat the electronic locks, entered each office, and exited the building through the rear door. The whole incident lasted only a few minutes.

Around 10:00 a.m., April 26th 2010, a scruffy looking male went into the liquor store and selected bottles of spirits. Thinking he was not being watched, they were concealed in his backpack. When we was approached , he pulled out a knife and exited the premises un-obstructed. The subject rode off on a bicycle.

On March 15th 2010, at around 7:00 p.m., a bus stop at Main St and Alfred Ave was the scene of a brutal assault. A female was attacked by a lone male, armed with a pipe, stating he had a knife. In the confrontation, she was punched continuously and then assaulted in a sexual manner.

On Remembrance Day, November 11th 2009, a curling club in Fort Rouge was targeted for a theft of personal property. A curler’s wallet and contents were stolen in the common area, while she was on the ice. Almost immediately, a credit card was used at several Osborne Village locations for purchases.

A liquor outlet in Fort Garry was the target of choice for an alcohol thief. On more than one occasion, he came into the store and selected a product. When he thought the coast was clear, he concealed the bottle and exited the store without paying.

Late night on March 15th 2010, a convenience store clerk on Isabel St began emptying the register of cash. Distracted for a moment, they left a substantial amount of cash (bills) on the counter. A person in the store took advantage of this and scooped up the bills and left the store, unaware the cameras were rolling.

On December 29th 2009, a foursome of males dropped into a St.Boniface beer store and purchased almost $ 200. in product. Four of the bills presented were counterfeit replicas.

On February 13th 2010 around supper time, a transit passenger fell asleep near St.Vital shopping center. On being woken up, he became agitated and assaulted the bus driver before leaving the vehicle.

In the early morning hours of February 18th, a taxi picked up 3 males in the City’s north end. One passenger produced and knife and threatened the cab driver, who stopped at a convenience store and fled the cab. 2 assailants fled on foot, while the 3rd subject took off in the taxi.

On Tuesday, February 9th 2010, just after 4:00 p.m., a financial institution in Osborne Village was robbed by a lone bandit. The male approached a teller and demanded money. He indicated he was armed but no weapon was seen.
