A uniform member’s rank is worn on the epaulets on the top of their shoulders:

Epaulets for the different Ranks

CHIEF OF POLICE: Three pips surmounted by a crown; no badge number
DEPUTY CHIEF: Two pips surmounted by a crown; no badge number
SUPERINTENDENT: One pip surmounted by a crown; no badge number
INPECTOR: One crown; no badge number
STAFF SERGEANT: Four inverted chevrons above badge number
SERGEANT: Three chevrons surmounted by a crown above badge number
PATROL SERGEANT: Three chevrons above badge number
DETECTIVE SERGEANT: Plainclothes (Equivalent to Patrol Sergeant)
SENIOR CONSTABLE: One chevron above badge number
CONSTABLE: Badge number
CIVILIAN MEMBERS: Seniority may be determined by an employee’s staff number
