Human Resource Development

The Human Resource Development Division provides developmental and educational opportunities for employees, as well as occupational safety health and wellness services that promote the well-being and safety of the City workforce.

Corporate Education provides:

  • in-house employee development/courses
  • support to organizational change initiatives
  • guidelines and procedures related to training and development

Occupational Health provides:

  • at the request of a department, confidential medical and nursing assessments, ergonomic assessments, wellness promotion and disease injury prevention activities
  • medical surveillance for the prevention of occupational diseases
  • guidelines/procedures relevant to health issues affecting employees

Corporate Safety provides:

  • support to comply with federal and provincial safety legislation
  • safety guidelines and procedures
  • safety training
  • assistance with accident investigations, job site inspections and safety audits

Occupational Hygiene provides:

  • information to allow for informed decision-making regarding exposure to chemical agents in the workplace
  • Interpretation of technical data, and research
  • assistance in the development of guidelines and procedures

The Employee Assistance Program provides:

  • confidential professional counseling and psychotherapy to employees and their families
  • experiential workshops
