Greater Protection of Taxpayers
Given the size and complexity of the nearly billion dollar upgrades to Winnipeg’s north and south end sewage treatment plants, the new management model and improved public utility will ensure greater taxpayer protection by:
- Striving for on-time and on-budget completion of large scale projects
- Avoiding cost over-runs like some that have occurred in the past
- Partnering with and drawing upon resources and specialized expertise from the private sector to ensure all regulatory, construction, design and budget requirements are met
- Generating new revenue streams, with benefits reverting back to ratepayers
