The Aboriginal Internship program is designed for use in all city departments to increase Aboriginal representation in the civic workforce. Through the internship, Aboriginal students or graduates are given the opportunity to use their academic studies in professional or technology disciplines to gain valuable work experience. Public Works Department hires Aboriginal students from the University of Manitoba’s Engineering Access Program (ENGAP) for a four month period in the summer. They also seek to hire graduates from the program as Engineers in Training (EIT’s) based on available vacancies.
