On January 11, 2005, Mayor Sam Katz signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with both the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC). The purpose of the MOU was to formalize the City of Winnipeg’s commitment to participate with the AMC and the MMF in developing strategies regarding training, recruitment and retention of Aboriginal employees at the City of Winnipeg.
The MOU also supports our employment, outreach and education activities outlined in “First Steps: Municipal Aboriginal Pathways”, adopted by Council in September 2003.
