2011 Employees' & Retirees' Charitable Fund / United Way Fire Engine Pull
City of Winnipeg elected officials, senior leaders and staff from departments and agencies gathered at City Hall from noon to 1:00 pm on Monday, October 3, 2011 to participate in the City of Winnipeg Employees' & Retirees' Charitable Fund (ERCF) / United Way Fire Engine Pull event.
The purpose of this inaugural event was to bring City of Winnipeg officials and staff together to have some fun and formally kick off the City organization's 2011 ERCF Campaign.
This event was planned in collaboration with United Way of Winnipeg as, like other levels of government, it is through their donations to the City's all-charities campaign that elected officials, senior leaders and staff support the annual United Way Campaign in our community.
The City of Winnipeg Council, departments, agencies and service areas were represented on 21 teams of 12, in the 2011 Fire Engine Pull. The team with the fastest time at the end of the event was the Public Works “Go Getters,” who took away the small but prestigious 2011 City of Winnipeg ERCF Fire Engine Pull trophy. Additional trophies were awarded for the best cheer (Public Works “Green Team”) and best costume (Winnipeg Parking Authority “Team Parking”).
The fire engines pulled in this friendly competition weigh approximately 42,000 pounds each. Last year, the ERCF raised more than $460,000 for charities including United Way of Winnipeg.
The ERCF board of directors reminds you to fill out a pledge form, and if you’re already contributing, please consider increasing your gift… every little bit helps to provide support to our fellow Winnipeggers!
