How to Apply Online for Instructor Guard
Step 1 - You must have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher to use the online application form.
Step 2 - We recommend you disable your popup blocker. Otherwise you may have problems submitting the online application.
In Internet Explorer select Tools >Pop-up Blocker > Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.
Step 3 - Go to www.winnipeg.ca/hr.
Step 4 - Go to Current Openings - Select the job opening for Instructor Guard.
Note: if Instructor Guard is not listed then we are not accepting applications at this time.
Step 5 - Review the duties and qualifications to determine if this is the job you want.
Note: You must have the following when you apply:
a) National Lifeguard Service Award (NLS).
b) Lifesaving Society Instructor's Certificate (LSI).
c) Red Cross Water Safety Instructors Certificate (WSI).
d) CPR Level C Basic Rescuer Certificate (Current within the last year).
e) Standard First Aid Certificate (St. John Ambulance, Red Cross, Criti Care EMS, or Aquatic Emergency Care).
f) Other Certificates which can improve your employment opportunities:
- Lifesaving Society Examiner Certificate - Presents you with the opportunity to examine Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.
- MFC Certificate - presents you with the opportunity to lead all fitness programs.
- Diving, Synchronized Swimming, Competitive Swimming, Water Polo - Presents you with the opportunity to teach these programs, generally to schools or other large groups.
- First Aid & CPR Instructors - Presents you with the opportunity to run some staff in- services and general population programs.
If you do not have certificates 5a to 5e you cannot apply.
Step 6 - Write down the posting number and title.
Step 7 - Select the “online application” link at the bottom of the job opening. The online application form will open in a new window.
Step 8 - Complete the application form. You have the option of viewing and printing the instructions on how to complete the online application form.
Step 9 - Review your application form and make any changes as required.
Step 10 - Select “I Agree” to submit your application form. You will get a message saying your application has been successfully saved.
Step 11 - Make photocopies of your current certifications 5a through 5e.
Step 12 - Wait 24 hours.
Step 13 - Go to City Hall, Human Resources, Main Floor - 510 Main Street Monday to Friday between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Step 14 - Provide us with your photocopied certificates. We do not provide photocopies of your certificates.
Step 15 - Complete additional forms.
Step 16 - Wait for us to contact you regarding the next step in the hiring process. If you do not hear from us continue checking our current openings on a weekly basis and apply to a recruitment that you are interested in.
Note: if you miss any of these steps your application will not proceed.
How to Apply In-person for Instructor Guard
Step 1 - We must be accepting applications for Instructor Guard before we will accept your application.
Step 2 - You must have the following when you apply:
