Support Services Engineer
Public Works Department
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Manager of
Streets Maintenance, the Support Services Engineer is responsible for providing
technical and engineering support services to all Branches of the Streets
Maintenance Division, for managing a technical group including engineers and
technologists and for providing administrative services to the Division.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligible
for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and
Geoscientists of Manitoba.
- Minimum
of 5 years of diverse and progressive experience in management, contract
administration and program delivery.
- Thorough
knowledge of standards, specifications, codes, by-laws, and legislation
applicable to public works infrastructure including safety regulations for
protection of staff and public.
- Strong
organizational, planning and coordinating skills.
- High
level of communication skills; both oral and written.
- Demonstrated
leadership, decision-making, negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated
knowledge of administrative procedures and financial management.
- Demonstrated
ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
elected officials, peers, staff, and the general public.
- Experience
with the use of microcomputers.
- Must be
able to work extended hours in emergency situations.
- Ability
to work under stressful situations.
- Ability
to supervise staff in a unionized workforce.
- Must
possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
