Signals Asset Engineer
Public Works Department
JOB SUMMARY
The Signals Asset Engineer is primarily
responsible for assisting in the development, planning, design, implementation,
and monitoring of an asset management program for signals and other electrical
traffic control devices. Also, the Signals Asset Engineer provides support to
the operations and maintenance of the Traffic Signals Branch.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with membership or
eligible for registration in the Association of Professional Engineers and
Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba (APEGM).
- Prior
experience of asset management in a municipal infrastructure environment.
- Working
knowledge of traffic engineering concepts would be an asset.
- Applicable
knowledge of alternative systems planning and processes and a strong
aptitude for research and analysis.
- Strong
interpersonal skills including communication, both oral and written,
formal reporting, team building, problem solving and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge
of federal, provincial and City of Winnipeg laws and regulations, by-laws,
policies and procedures governing the planning, development and safe
operation and maintenance of traffic control.
- Experience
with the use of microcomputers.
- Knowledge
and experience in operating and capital budget development, analysis and
control.
- Demonstrated
ability to supervise staff in a unionized workforce in accordance with
Collective Agreements
- Must
possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
