Citizens and Emergency Personnel to be recognized at Emergency Medical Services Celebration of Life Luncheon

Winnipeg, MB - Members of the media are invited to attend the Celebration of Life luncheon to honour both Emergency Services personnel and four members of the public for their actions to rescue people and help save lives this past year. The event is being held in conjunction with Emergency Medical Services Week, May 17 to 24, 2009.

Emergency Medical Services Celebration of Life Luncheon

Speakers:
• His Honour, the Honourable John Harvard, P.C., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba
• The Honourable Theresa Oswald, Minister of Health, Province of Manitoba
• Acting Deputy Mayor Gord Steeves, Councillor for St.Vital
• Jim Brennan, Chief, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service
• Eric Glass, Chairman, Paramedics Association of Manitoba
• Steve Ackerman, Bristol-Meyers Squibb

Recognition Appreciation Certificates will be made to several Emergency Medical Services personnel

Four citizen Commendations will be made to:
• A gentleman who provided CPR for a fellow citizen
• A young boy who called 911 to assist his brother
• Two young girls who provided CPR and first aid for a child
